Manlius Guitar Pickups now offers
authentic Jazzmaster recreation pickups in
several styles. Jazzmaster's are very
versatile guitars that can offer a wide range
of tonal options. They are not merely "Surf"
guitars; they can get great clean articulate
response, creamy overdriven saturated
tones, and full on grit and drive. I recently
had the chance to examine a '59 and a '64
JM, and am offering recreations of both. I
also have available my JM Pro, which is a
moremodern take on a JM pickup that
offers maximum versatility.
- '59 Jazzmaster : Vintage correct
Formvar magnet wire, AlNiCo
magnets, fibreboard bobbins. Very
snappy and crisp. Great for surf, but
with great grind when driven, and the
rhythmn curcuit offers a very nice
rounded tone.
- '64 Jazzmaster : Same vintage
components as the '59, but with a
touch more output and PE magnet
wire. A little more mid response with
a touch smoother highs. Still very
versatile with tight highs and slightly
more promounced mid response.
- JM Pro : Medium/High output,
AlNICo 2 magnets offer a smoother
high end with refined lows. Woody
overall tone, maximum JM sustain,
very creamy and full driven response,
handles distortion very well. A little
more Rock N Roll from your JM.
All Jazzmaster pickups are potted for
maximum performance, offered RWRP as
original examples were, and will fit all
american jazzmaster covers if you wish not
to purchase new covers.
